WSC urges US to lead way over piracy legislation

The World Shipping Council has called on the US government to form a legal agreement with other nations to imprison pirates, after an upsurge in piracy attacks in the Gulf of Aden, write Martyn Wingrove and Helen Kelly. The WSC is concerned its members face high risks from attacks and have to reroute ships away from the region. It highlighted the problem of returning captured pirates to nations like Somalia is not desirable for shipping companies.
